Assignment 4: Steve McCurry

I decided to focus my multimodal presentation on Steve McCurry. Steve McCurry is a well known global photographer that has won many awards and has shot for National Geographic before. Steve McCurry's photographs capture different cultures, conflict, and humanity. Many of McCurry’s photographs are portraits of people from around the world, but he also captures cultural landscapes, interactions between people, interactions between people and nature, and common life. McCurry photographs seem to effortlessly capture the beauty in everyday culture, people, and scenes. 

 

Reviewing McCurry’s work helped me realize the effect of color in photography. In every photograph, McCurry strategically uses color to help get the story of the photograph across to the viewer. My perception of photography has shifted to understanding that elements of every photograph should have a purpose in order to be successful.
